Portfolio Parade

This exercise will help you get a sense of what different portfolios look like, and may give you ideas for your own.

  • Think about what criteria you would use to evaluate a website.
  • Explore the personal websites assigned to your group (see our Google Drive folder).
  • Debate with your group until you agree about how to answer the following questions: (1) What is one feature of a well-designed portfolio? (2) What is one thing we should all watch out for when designing portfolios in our class? (3) What is one question you have about the portfolios you will create this semester?

One of my favorite exercises was the very first one, when we had to evaluate a set of websites based on how effective or navigable they were. It was funny to hear everyone’s opinions as well as to see how different website creators used visuals to express their purpose or content.

The portfolio parade was really helpful because it gave me ideas on what to consider when forming my own site.

The portfolio parade … was helpful to see the bigger picture. Also, I love examples.
